Church Staff

Steve Chromy, Senior Pastor
God called Steve to lead Mount Hermon Baptist Church in January of 2017.
God saved Steve as a young boy and called him into the ministry in July of 1993. He has served as the Program Director/Staff Evangelist of a Christian Camp, Youth Pastor and Radio Station manager for a church in Florida, and most recently as the Co-Pastor of Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Bunn, NC. While in Bunn, God also gave Steve a ministry as Defensive Coordinator at Bunn High School.
Steve has a heart for souls and taking the gospel from inside the church into the lostness of the community. It is Steve’s passion that the members of Mount Hermon Baptist Church would grow in their love for God, His word, and the Gospel that it would radiate from them to those they come in contact with every day.
It is this love for the Gospel of Christ that has sent Steve to the mission fields of Baltimore, Romania, Nicaragua, Mexico, France, and Haiti. Steve’s passion can be seen in his love for expository preaching, loving and serving people, and training others to do the work of the ministry. Steve recently graduated from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
Steve and his incredible wife Kathryn have four amazing kids: Colt, Kylee, Karis, and Katey.
Steve loves sports and can be found watching the Gophers, Vikings, the Wild, and any other team from Minnesota. In the ACC, Steve roots for the University of Virginia Cavaliers. (GO HOOS!) He also loves to read, hunt, and get out on his four-wheeler.

Corey Young, Administrative Pastor
Corey came on staff as the Administrative Pastor in August 2017. He grew up in Eastern Kentucky (Paintsville) and was saved at 7 years old at VBS. He went to Campbellsville University, where he played golf, received a BA in Biblical Studies (2009) and a Master of Theology (2012), and met and married his wife Jessica. He worked as an Admissions Counselor at CU for almost three years until God called Jess and him to Beechland Baptist Church in Louisville, KY where he served as the Minister to Students and Young Adults. He served at Beechland for almost five years before God called Jess and him here to Mount Hermon.
Corey and Jess have been married for over seven years and have one child, Adelynn. She is an amazing little girl that loves animals and is full of life, love, laughter, and personality! Corey enjoys golfing, bass fishing, corny jokes, watching movies and TV shows, University of Kentucky sports (especially basketball…GO BIG BLUE!), and spending as much time as possible with his family.

Because of his call to ministry, he attended Boyce College (The college at Southern Seminary) in Louisville, Kentucky. He majored in Youth Ministry and graduated in 2016.
While in Louisville he served at Highview Baptist Church as a student ministry intern for four years and then he served as their middle school student pastor for two years. Cody has a strong desire to see youth and children know and follow Jesus.
Cody loves sports and any form of competition. He is a fan of the University of Virginia. For professional sports he is a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Cavilers (or any LeBron team). Cody also loves spending time with his friends.
